I really liked the concept, the story gauged my interest and the descriptions made imagining it very easy. However, I found the end rushed I bought the second book before I finished this one expecting the story to continue, only to find the story ended in this book. Just to clarify, the second book is about the bigger story involving the Manth people. My child started reading this book for school and quickly finished it! I love the trilogy that this book starts.
The Wind Singer itself I found improved the more I got into it. The two subsequesnt volumes get darker and bleaker, but still make good reading for mid teen people.
The first volume is very suitable for lower teen age. I loved reading this book. My daughter Lily recommended it to me.
